The Andrews Labor Government is getting more regional passengers to all their favourite weekend and evening events, with 151 new train services to start next month.
Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan today unveiled the new V-Line timetable that will begin on 27 August and boost services across the state.
The new timetable will add 69 services for Geelong including 30 new services every weekend. The extra services will mean trains at least every 40 minutes between 7:00am-7:00pm every day on Victoria’s busiest regional rail corridor.
The next busiest V/Line corridors – to Bendigo and Ballarat – will each get 18 extra weekly services, as will Gippsland where the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments will deliver a $435 million upgrade to add even more services in the future.
The Ararat line will benefit from 19 additional weekly services, including an extra weekday morning train that will form a service to Melbourne at Ballarat, and a weekday afternoon service from Southern Cross to Wendouree that will be extended to Ararat.
The new timetable will also add four services between Melbourne, Seymour and Shepparton on weekends.
The 151 extra services will take the total number of regional services added this year to 231 – 61 more than announced in the Victorian State Budget 2016/17.
V/Line now runs more than 2000 services every week – a 40 per cent increase since the Labor Government took office.
Passengers will also benefit in the future from the Victorian and Federal Government’s $1.6 billion Regional Rail Revival, which will deliver more train services and better rail infrastructure for regional Victorians.
The timings of coaches and buses that connect with trains will be adjusted to reflect the new timetable.

Passengers will be able to pick up printed timetables from stations and plan their trip using the Plan a Journey tool on the V-Line website from Thursday 27 July.
