Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development, Women's Affairs Maxine Morand was appointed in 2007 as the first Victorian Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development. Maxine is responsible for taking forward Victoria's plan to improve outcomes in early childhood and ensure that all Victorian children have the opportunity to get the very best possible start in life. Maxine is also the Minister for Women's Affairs. Maxine was a health professional prior to being elected to Parliament and trained as a general nurse, specialising in renal nursing, then spent five years as a Victorian Transplant Coordinator. From 1996 to 2000 Maxine held a research position at the Cancer Council of Victoria, working in the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer. Following the election of the Bracks Government in 1999, Maxine was appointed as an adviser to the then Minister for Health. Maxine was elected to Parliament as the Member for Mount Waverley in 2002 and 2006. Maxine lives in Mount Waverley with her husband and 2 children. | ||
