Minister for Planning Justin Madden was first elected to the Victorian Parliament in 1999. Justin has more than 30 years of experience in sport that ranges from a successful AFL career to Minister for Sport and Recreation and Minister responsible for delivering the highly successful Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. He has also worked as a school teacher and is a qualified architect. Urban Planning and design are topics that Justin is passionate about. As Planning Minister, Justin is keen to take advantage of opportunities to improve the way we use Victoria's planning system to advance our competitive advantages in all its forms - affordability, design quality and liveability. Justin is committed to delivering well-designed neighbourhoods that provide more lifestyle and housing choices. He is continually working on improving our planning rules and processes to deliver an efficient planning system that is transparent, fair and provides certainty.
