Minister for Environment and Climate Change and Innovation Gavin Jennings is Minister for the Environment and Climate Change, Minister for Innovation, and Deputy Leader in the Legislative Council. Gavin has a key role in spearheading the Brumby Government's approach to tackling the threat of climate change. His other portfolio of Innovation makes him ideally placed to drive technological and scientific advances in Victoria. Elected to the Legislative Council in September 1999, Gavin became Minister for Aged Care and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs in 2002 and in 2006 was appointed Minister for Community Services and retained the Aboriginal Affairs portfolio. Gavin was born in Melbourne in April 1957 and raised mainly in country Victoria. Gavin has been a social worker at the Aboriginal Health Service (Fitzroy) and has worked as an Industrial Officer for a number of unions. Gavin has also worked as a factory worker and actuarial clerk. Gavin's interests include spending time with his son Huw, photography, films, innovation and design, and supporting the Bombers. | ||
