$3.76 MILLION IN GRANTS FOR VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY SERVICES GROUPS ANNOUNCED

Emergency Services Minister Bob Cameron today announced $3.76 million
in grants for volunteer emergency services groups from this year’s
Community Safety Emergency Support Program (CSESP), including the
roll-out of 16 all terrain slip-on vehicles across the state.
The grants will help 76 groups from the CFA, State Emergency Services (VICSES), Life Saving Victoria, the Australian Volunteer Coastguard secure more than $7.6 million in extra equipment.
Mr Cameron said the Brumby Government was taking action to support volunteer groups across Victoria.
“Last year the Brumby Government provided $2.5 million in grants. This year I’m pleased to announce $3.76 million to help make Victoria’s world-class emergency services even stronger,” Mr Cameron said.
“This year a record number of trucks will also be delivered to volunteer emergency service groups across Victoria – from Wonthaggi in the state’s south to Port Fairy in the west.”
“CFA brigades will be able to secure slip-on units – small fire fighting trucks, with an additional 16 to be purchased by CFA brigades under the program.
Mr Cameron said the all-terrain slip-on units provide greater flexibility in deploying personnel and equipment and offering faster responses.
“The Brumby Government is committed to supporting volunteers, who support communities across Victoria in times of need 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
“Be it fire, flood, storm or water rescues, our volunteers are ready to respond and help with recovery efforts. Their tireless work helps keep Victoria safe.”
