A $2.2 million Brumby Government funding boost has transformed a vacant
block on Marshall Street in Ivanhoe into 16 homes for single people and
small families on low-incomes.
The tightest private rental market in two decades combined with record
rent levels across Victoria have placed additional demand on the
state’s public housing system.
Tenders are now being sought by the Brumby Government to build a new
$80 million development for the Ashwood Gateway area that will help to
reduce public housing waiting lists.
Enthusiasm from residents in embracing the Brumby Government’s $2.3
million Horsham North Community Engagement Project has been simply
outstanding, Housing Minister Richard Wynne and Community Development
Minister Peter Batchelor said today.
An innovative development to boost affordable housing for those on low
and medium incomes is taking shape in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct,
following an almost $14 million investment by the Brumby Government.
