Graduation of first squad of Victoria Police Protective Services Officers
TRANSCRIPT:
I am just delighted to be here today with the Chief Commissioner and other senior officers of Victoria Police to witness this graduation of squad one.
I have got to say the pride on their faces, the enthusiasm with which they have greeted this ceremony and the job they are doing, I think, speaks very well for this initiative.
I think it says a lot about the people Victoria Police are recruiting for this job.
We certainly remain committed to ensuring our train stations become places of safety, not places of fear.
As I said inside, we look forward to that day ahead when there is activity around our transport hubs and firm but familiar faces are there to provide that extra level of community safety.
And that community safety will help, I am sure, I am very confident, with the development of a sense of community involvement in our transport hubs and our transport stations in particular.
So I am delighted to be here today, I congratulate all the new graduates and I am very confident PSOs on our railway stations will make a big difference and help with community safety and help our stations grow as community hubs.
