Ryan sets date for 2013 Regional Victoria Living Expo
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan today teamed up with triple premiership Geelong ruckman Brad Ottens to announce the date for the 2013 Regional Victoria Living Expo in Melbourne.
Mr Ryan said up to 10,000 visitors and 150 exhibitors were expected to attend the three-day Expo, which would be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 19 to 21 of April 2013.
"The free Expo will bring together Victoria's 48 rural and regional councils as well as exhibitors, making it easy to explore everything regional Victoria has to offer," Mr Ryan said.
"The Expo will give Melbourne residents and businesses all the information they need when considering relocating to regional and rural Victoria.
"Expo visitors will discover that Victoria's regional and rural areas provide huge advantages in liveability, jobs, education, housing and business viability that are at least the equal of those on offer in Melbourne."
Mr Ryan said the Expo would build on the success of last April's inaugural Expo, which involved 137 exhibitors and attracted more than 8,000 visitors, with many suggesting they have serious intentions to relocate to regional Victoria.
"It was clear that the people who attended the Expo had done their research around where in regional Victoria they would like to relocate to and the housing, education and employment opportunities they're looking for," Mr Ryan said.
"I encourage all businesses with links to regional Victoria to exhibit at the 2013 Expo where they can speak to thousands of Melburnians about the fantastic opportunities in their region."
Geelong great Brad Ottens, who won three premierships with the Cats after moving to regional Victoria in 2005, highlighted the wonderful opportunities that exist in regional Victoria.
"Regional Victoria has provided me with great living and working opportunities, and those opportunities are available to anyone but you have to know where to look, so I encourage anyone thinking about a move to visit the 2013 Regional Victoria Living Expo," Mr Ottens said.
