The Wyndham growth area will see a significant community infrastructure project fast-tracked as part of Planning Minister Matthew Guys decision to bring forward the delivery of Growth Area Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) projects today.
As part of a larger $7 million first tranche across Melbourne, Wyndham will see $900,000 in infrastructure investment delivered from the GAIC to support strategic community infrastructure projects.
"Changes implemented by the Victorian Coalition Government last year have enabled us to fast-track investment in much needed infrastructure in the Wyndham growth area," Mr Guy said.
GAIC funding will support the upgrade of transport facilities at the Wyndham Events, Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
"This project will significantly enhance the local community and increase capacity to cater for existing and future growth area residents," Mr Guy said.
The upgrade of transport facilities and the Wyndham Events, Aquatic and Leisure Centre will provide better public access as part of the major upgrade to the precinct.
$900,000 has been allocated from the GAIC to the project to be delivered by the Wyndham City Council.
"After decades of Labor neglect the Coalition Government is pleased to be able to fast-track infrastructure investment in our growth areas," Mr Guy said.
"Investing in infrastructure is vital to the social fabric of outer suburban communities and investment will support the Wyndham growth area as it continues to develop," Mr Guy said.
