Airport upgrades help Bendigo jet ahead
The Victorian Coalition Government has welcomed a significant investment from MyJet Aviation at Bendigo Airport that is expected to create six new jobs.
Visiting the airport today, Aviation Minister Gordon Rich-Phillips said MyJet's $1.5 million investment came after the Victorian Coalition Government committed $5 million from the
Regional Aviation Fund towards the development of the airport.
"By upgrading the airport's critical infrastructure, including the main north-south runway, Bendigo will be able to secure additional private investment.
"These improvements will help to establish the city as a key regional aviation hub and make the operation of commercial charter services from Bendigo airport more viable."
Mr Rich-Phillips said MyJet's investment – which included the construction of a new hangar – would stimulate economic development in the Bendigo region.
"The presence of commercial charter services from Bendigo not only makes the city more accessible, but also provides an important service to business travellers.
"Businesses in the region can now fly interstate without having to drive to Melbourne to board a commercial flight.
"These services will help make Bendigo a more attractive place to invest and do business.
"MyJet's new hangar will also help build capacity and is the latest of recently announced development projects for Bendigo," Mr Rich-Phillips said.
