Small Business Festival to tackle retail issues
Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business Louise Asher today announced the Victorian Coalition Government would sponsor three significant retail workshops as part of Victoria's 2012 Small Business Festival.
"The Small Business Festival runs throughout the month of August with over 250 events across Victoria," Ms Asher said.
"The Festival is about assisting current and prospective small business owners to gain the know-how and skills needed to transform their ideas into reality.
"Throughout the Festival, the Coalition Government is working with the Australian Retailers Association to highlight important skills that all retailers should be developing in these turbulent economic times."
The feature event is Creating Success Online: Five eCommerce Trends You Need to Know. It is a three-and-a-half hour seminar designed to educate retailers on the importance of getting online and adopting a multi-channel approach.
Attendees will learn practical advice and hear first-hand from a retailer that has successfully implemented a multi-channel approach.
A one-hour webinar Retail Rent Stress will teach retailers how to gain some power at the lease negotiating table and secure manageable rents, particularly during times of poor retail trade.
The Employing and Managing People seminar will focus on effective performance management so that retailers are getting the most out of their staff and ensure that they are maximising sales opportunities.
