VCE results arrive for class of 2011

More than 82,000 students will receive their long-awaited Victorian Certificate of Education exam results from 7am today.

Minister for Education Martin Dixon said it was an exciting time for students and their families.

"Congratulations to every student receiving their results today, whether they are getting a single subject mark or have completed their VCE, they should be extremely proud of what they have achieved," Mr Dixon said.

"VCE is a challenging year which requires dedication, hard work and commitment."

This year more than 49,000 students will graduate with their VCE and more than 10,000 students have completed their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCAL).

Students can access their results via the internet, or automatically by SMS for those who pre-registered. Eligible students will also receive their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Mr Dixon said it was important for students to seek advice if their results weren't what they expected.

"Some students may be disappointed with their results, but I'd encourage them to talk to someone they trust, there is plenty of support available in schools," Mr Dixon said.

"Doing well at VCE is a fantastic achievement and I'd like to congratulate those students who have excelled. But it is also important for students to remember that results are not the only measure of success.

"There are many career and further study pathways for students to consider from TAFE and university courses, to apprenticeships or traineeships."

Students have until 5pm on Wednesday 21 December to change their university and TAFE course preferences.

Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority Chief Executive John Firth wished all VCE and VCAL graduates the best of luck for their future.

Results certificates will arrive in the mail from Monday 19 December.
