The community of Maryborough in the Central Goldfields is set to enjoy new and improved facilities at Princes Park, thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.
The park – which features a sporting oval, running track and community spaces – plays host to a range of local events, including the popular RACV Energy Breakthrough event which attracts over 12,000 participants and visitors to the region each year.
Deputy Premier James Merlino today announced the Labor Government’s $366,666 contribution on behalf of Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford to the $500,000 Princes Park Enhancement project.
The upgrades will include:
- Extension of the Energy Breakthrough track to allow participants in the event to better showcase their innovative designs
- Extension of the recycled water system that supplies the community spaces, reducing reliance on portable water – ensuring continued access to the facility in times of drought
- Improvements to the community spaces including landscaping, seating and shelters to ensure Princes Park remains a contemporary venue for both residents and visitors
Maryborough and the Central Goldfields region have been impacted by ongoing dry conditions in North West Victoria. That’s why the Labor Government will provide an additional $15,000 to support the drought recovery process.
The funding will support community-led initiatives and partnerships that help to build resilient, diversified and sustainable economies.
The project will be delivered by the Central Goldfields Shire Council in close consultation with the local community.
