02 August 2017

The Andrews Labor Government is backing local manufacturing, supporting a Bendigo benchtop and hardware business to invest in cutting-edge equipment and create new local jobs.

Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan announced today that CV Benchtops & Hardware in East Bendigo has received support from the Labor Government’s Future Industries Manufacturing Program (FIMP).

CV Benchtops & Hardware – a manufacturer of kitchen benches and doors – will use the government grant to purchase and install a new edge bander machine and two vacuum lifts as part of a $330,000 investment.

The company will create two new jobs in manufacturing and transition two more.

The expansion will help the company boost manufacturing capabilities, improve workplace safety, develop new products and increase sales in the local market.

Bendigo is home to more than 350 manufacturers employing more than 4,000 workers. The local industry is made up of businesses specialising in defence, construction, transport technologies, as well as food and fibre.
