The Andrews Labor Government today announced $144,000 in funding to help supply chain businesses affected by the changing automotive manufacturing landscape in Victoria.
Meeting with workers at Ace Wire Works in Hallam, Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan announced the funding, which will help nine automotive supply chain companies across Melbourne with intensive business support to plan for their future.
The Labor Government has always supported automotive manufacturing in Victoria and we will continue to work hard to minimise the impact on businesses, workers and their families who were abandoned by the Liberals.
Supply chain companies to receive assistance under the Automotive Supply Chain Transition Program (ASCTP) include:
- A Bending Company, Dandenong South
- Australian Performance Vehicles, Campbellfield
- Dana Australia, Hallam
- Luna Name Plate Industries, Bayswater
- Motherson Elastomers, White Hills
- Premoso trading as Holden Special Vehicles, Clayton
- Socobell Automotive, Sunshine
- Socobell OEM, Spotswood
- Total Tooling Co, Croydon South
This round of ASCTP funding builds on $446,000 already provided to 20 Victorian automotive supply chain companies under the program – established to help businesses identify future opportunities and new markets.
Eligible supply chain companies stand to receive a suite of assistance valued at up to $71,000 to engage the services of a qualified industry specialist to help develop a plan for transition.
This program is part of the Labor Government’s $46.5 million Automotive Transition Plan to help Victorian automotive businesses transition into new markets, retrain and find sustainable new work for workers, and attract investment into the communities most affected by closures.
