Hanging Rock Review To Commence

04 June 2015

Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water, Lisa Neville, today joined Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, to announce the first stage of a comprehensive review of the Hanging Rock Precinct, securing a key election commitment.

The review, to be undertaken by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, will ensure the best arrangements are in place for Hanging Rock, protecting the site and its natural beauty for all Victorians to enjoy.

The first stage of the review will provide analysis and options for future governance and administrative arrangements for management of the site.

Extensive engagement with key stakeholders and the local community will be conducted by an independent consultant over the next three months.

The information received from the community will be used to develop a range of options that provide for sustainable long term management of Hanging Rock and take into account the diverse range of interests in the area.

The second stage of the review will consider planning provisions and be informed by the initial community consultations regarding the management of the precinct.
