Growing Jobs In Victoria For Victorians

20 October 2016

The Andrews Labor Government has helped create 300 new jobs in Melbourne’s east with the official launch of the first Australian customer support centre for global business services leader, Teleperformance.

Bringing work to Australia that was previously done offshore, Teleperformance is the first company to recruit workers through the Labor Government’s $53 million Jobs Victoria Employment Network, which connects those Victorians facing barriers to employment with jobs.

The new Burwood service centre, will service the Australian and the Singaporean markets, and has already performed strongly against internal global benchmarks.

Teleperformance is one of the largest global providers of outsourced business support services with a workforce of around 190,000 staff located across 65 countries, providing a range of services from standard customer support to analytics and highly customised knowledge solutions.

As part of its $200 million Future Industries Fund, the Labor Government is supporting high growth sectors, such as professional services, to economic boost growth and create jobs for Victoria.

With advances in information and communications technology, the sector is expanding as a key export industry, achieving $2.8 billion in annual exports in 2014-15.

Since November 2014, Victoria’s economy has generated more than 162,000 jobs, and leads the nation on full-time jobs growth.

Jobs Victoria is working to make sure that all Victorians can share in that jobs growth with providers offering targeted services and working closely with employers to find work for disadvantaged Victorians.
