Greyhound Racing Victoria Welcomes New Board Members

06 October 2015

The Andrews Labor Government has announced the appointment of Mr Robert Greenall and Ms Peita Elkhorne, to the Board of Greyhound Racing Victoria.

Minister for Racing Martin Pakula said the new board members bring with them skills that will be valuable additions to the Board.

Mr Greenall has more than 25 years of veterinary experience, during which time he has overseen a number of projects to improve animal health and welfare.

Mr Greenall’s appointment is consistent with the recent recommendations by the Racing Integrity Commissioner and Victoria's Chief Veterinary Officer that the Board include a member with a background in animal welfare.

Ms Elkhorne has extensive marketing and business development experience in the corporate sector as well as greyhound racing experience, including as a director of the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association.

Mr Ken Lay APM and Ms Judith Bornstein, have also been extended in their appointments as GRV Board members. The pair were appointed in March 2015 for one-year terms.

Their extension to three years will enable them to continue to review governance and administrative structures within the organisation and provide stability to the greyhound racing industry in the longer term.
