Grassroots Sport In Ballarat Set To Win Big

17 May 2016

Ballarat’s local netballers, footy players and athletes are set to benefit from significant upgrades to the C.E. Brown Reserve as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s redevelopment of the historic reserve.

Treasurer Tim Pallas today joined Member for Wendouree, Sharon Knight and Member for Buninyong, Geoff Howard to formally launch the construction phase of the redevelopment.

The project includes upgrades to football and umpire facilities and the construction of netball change rooms, accessible toilets, storage for maintenance equipment and refitting of existing kitchen and bar areas.

It will help increase community participation in local sport and provide access to a broader range of user groups that may use the facilities for social or community events.

Local sporting clubs set to directly benefit from the upgrade include the Lake Wendouree Football and Netball Club, Wendouree Cricket Club and the Wendouree Athletics Club.

The Labor Government is providing $31.5 million towards the Eureka Precinct redevelopment, which includes upgrading Eureka Stadium, the Wendouree Sports and Events Centre, and the Ballarat Showgrounds along with C.E. Brown Reserve.

Through the $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, the Government is supporting projects like C.E. Brown Reserve to boost business and enhance the liveability of regional Victoria.
