Grants To Improve Kindergartens In The Education State

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting kinders across Victoria with grants to upgrade kindergarten facilities and to improve services they offer families and children.

The grants, with applications now open, form part of the Labor Government’s election commitment to invest $50 million to build and upgrade kindergartens and children’s centres.

Hundreds of kindergartens across the state have already benefitted from upgrades and improvements.

Expansion grants of up to $25,000 are available to kindergartens, allowing them enlarge their playrooms, giving them flexibility and helping them to better accommodate the 2016 educator-to-child ratios.

Funding of up to $10,000 is also on offer to services planning to enhance their programs through upgrading their playgrounds, improving access for children of all abilities and conducting refurbishments.

Services can also apply for grants of up to $1,500 to purchase new desktop computers, laptops, tablets or televisions, giving early childhood professionals the resources they need to support their important work.

Through these investments, the Labor Government is ensuring that our vital early years teachers and staff are supported and that more children will have access to high-quality early learning services.

The Government is making Victoria the Education State – and this begins with giving every child a strong start in life.
