Funding To Support Regional Strategic Planning

07 May 2015

Regional leaders and communities across Victoria will benefit from the Andrews Labor Government’s $1.5 million investment to support the development of regional strategic plans, as part of the 2015-16 Victorian Budget.

The Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford, today confirmed the $1.5 million in funding to support strategic regional planning and development would be delivered through the Labor Government’s $50 million Stronger Regional Communities Plan.

Launching the new Loddon Mallee Regional Strategic Plan in Bendigo today, Ms Pulford said the investment would support Regional Strategic Planning Committees to build understanding and consensus on regional priorities.

The community led regional strategic planning model was established by the former Labor Government and supports regional communities to develop strategies to meet new challenges and capitalise on new opportunities.

The final design of the regional strategic planning program will be informed by the advice of the current Regional Economic Services Review.

The Stronger Regional Communities Plan is part of the Labor Government’s $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, which will come into effect on 1 July, 2015.
