Designs Reveal An Ace For Bendigo Tennis Centre

26 July 2016

The Bendigo Tennis Centre will soon become the biggest hardcourt complex in Victoria behind the world-renowned Melbourne Park.

Minister for Sport John Eren and Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today released designs for the major upgrade, made possible by a $2.4 million Andrews Labor Government grant.

The detailed designs by Mantric Architecture paint a picture of the venue’s proposed showcourt upgrade and state-of-the-art pavilion. It will transform the ageing facility into regional Victoria’s best tennis venue.

The Labor Government’s redevelopment will upgrade four courts to International Tennis Federation standards, meaning more of the big tournaments for Bendigo. Space for grandstand seating and a pavilion complete with player change areas, spectator amenities, offices and a shop are also planned.

Bendigo already hosts some of the best tournaments on Victoria’s tennis calendar, including the Bendigo Festival of Tennis and the Bendigo Bank Winter JT and AMT Tennis Tournament. Our upgrade will mean more WTA, ATP and ITF tournaments for Bendigo – and that’s a boost to Central Victoria’s economy.

The big tournaments and sporting events mean more visitors. An influx of players, coaches, families and supporters keep nearby businesses busy and create jobs for locals. The Labor Government is getting it done for Bendigo, building the best sports facilities capable of hosting the biggest events.

Our $5 million upgrade of Bendigo Stadium and the $15 million new Greater Bendigo Indoor Aquatic Leisure and Wellbeing Centre will ensure all Central Victorians have access to the safe, modern sports facilities they deserve.
