Construction At Horsham North Hub Kicks Off

04 January 2017

Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford, today officially launched construction of the $4.3 million Horsham North Hub.

It signalled the start of a new community centre that will generate 24 jobs during construction and ensure the retention of up to 10 full time jobs once operational. It’s aimed to address high levels of socio-economic disadvantage in Horsham North and will improve access to quality early years development and family services.

It will also promote future economic growth and increase the attractiveness of commercial development sites in the highly disadvantaged area of Horsham North.

The Hub will comprise a range of education, healthcare and support services, four multi-purpose meeting rooms, a large function area, offices and working spaces, social and public amenities including a children’s play area, landscaping and off street parking.

The Andrews Labor Government will contribute $2.6 million with the Federal Government contributing $900,000 and Horsham Rural City Council putting $896,000 towards the project.

The Project conforms to the priorities of Horsham Rural City Council’s 2014-2018 Plan, the Horsham and District Early Years Plan and the Horsham North Urban Design Framework.

It also aligns with the priorities of the Wimmera Southern Mallee Region, the Wimmera Southern Mallee Regional Investment Plan and the Delkaia Aboriginal Best Start Program.
