Victorians are invited to contribute to the state’s first-ever discussion into future apartment design, as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s consultation into apartment living.
Minister for Planning, Richard Wynne, recently released the Better Apartments discussion paper to draw ideas from the property industry, apartment-dwellers and the broader community. Mr Wynne has now launched an online survey as part of consultation.
The community survey is one part of the Better Apartments consultation process, which aims to include industry and community views each step of the way in creating a new benchmark of apartment living. Detailed industry submissions are being collected and stakeholder forums will be held.
An options paper on apartment guidelines will be released later this year.
The survey will be open until 31 July 2015 and is available at www.delwp.vic.gov.au/planning/policy-and-strategy/better-apartments

“Melbourne is set to house almost 100,000 new residents each year, so we need to ensure that we design apartments for them that are fit for purpose but also affordable and liveable. Our built environment needs to improve our communities.”
“Planning is about people, and this survey will allow us to combine robust industry advice with meaningful community input on issues such as amenity and affordability. I have no doubt that this will lead to better planning decisions.”
