Clean, Healthy Water For Maryborough Community

10 April 2017

Maryborough’s new $5.6 million Water Quality Treatment Facility is now operational, providing residents with a more secure, safe and healthy water supply.

Parliamentary Secretary for Water Anthony Carbines joined the Mayor of Central Goldfields Shire and Chair of Central Highlands Water to officially open the facility.

The facility will ensure Maryborough has the infrastructure in place to support new residents and businesses.

The new Reverse Osmosis Salt Reduction Plant has been integrated with the existing Surface Water Plant and will provide improved resilience to drought and climate variability.

It will ensure residents can rely on a sustainable, quality water source now and into the future that continues to meet all health-based water quality standards and improved taste and a reduction in hardness and salt levels.

The enhanced facility was designed, built and is operated by Veolia Water Services who are world leaders in providing water treatment services across the world.

Ensuring our towns and cities remain resilient and liveable in the future is an important element of Water for Victoria, the Andrews Labor Government’s plan for the management of our precious water resources.

The new facility will provide improved resilience to drought and climate variability, important as our climate changes.
