The Hume region in the north-east of the State extends from the New South Wales border in the north to the outskirts of Melbourne. 

Hume encompasses the area of Victoria that is bound by Corryong to the east, Kinglake to the south, Shepparton/Mooroopna to the west and Wodonga to the north.

Some of the projects where the Brumby Government is taking action on roads and public transport include:

1.

$4 million in maintenance works to improve train travel times to Seymour, Shepparton.

2.

Improvements for bus facilities at Benalla, Kilmore, Seymour, Shepparton, Wallan, Wangaratta and Wodonga.

3.

New facilities were installed at 26 primary and secondary schools through Hume region as part of the first stage of the program.

4.

Delivery of an extra 190 bus services in the Wodonga area in June 2003.

5.

Upgrading of the Goulburn Valley Highway.

6.

Reduce the cost of V/Line tickets by on average 20%.
