Gippsland regional map

 

The Gippsland region stretches along the coast from the New South Wales border to Venus Bay and Wilsons' Promontory. It takes in towns such as Warragul, Moe, Traralgon, Omeo, Foster and Orbost.

Some of the projects where the Brumby Government is taking action on roads and public transport include:

1.

Investing more than $376 million on upgrading major roads in Gippsland, including the further duplication of the Bass Highway and the Bena Bypass in South Gippsland.

2.

A new V/Line timetable was introduced on 15 October 2006 and delivers many new services to Gippsland communities.

3.

Train services to Bairnsdale recommenced on 3 May 2004.

4.

New facilities have been installed at 32 primary and secondary schools throughout the Gippsland region as part of the first stage of the Rural School Bus program.

5.

Completed the Pakenham Bypass - Princes Freeway, Beaconsfield to Nar Nar Goon.

6.

Reduce the cost of V/Line tickets by on average 20%.
