The Loddon region is located north west of Melbourne and extends from Mildura on the Victorian / New South Wales border, through regional centres such as Swan Hill, Kerang, Boort, Bendigo and Kyneton to the south. 

The Brumby Government is taking action to create jobs and making sure Victorians have the skills they need:

1.

In the Loddon-Mallee Region the unemployment rate has fallen from 8.4% in October 1999 to 6.0% in February 2008.

2.

Worked with Almonds Australia to provide $150 million and 90 jobs to establish 4000 hectares of almond orchards in the Robinvale region.

3.

Creating an additional 150,000 new jobs across Victoria over the next four years and maintaing low unemployment.

4.

Establishing the Central Victorian Innovation Park, the Bendigo Rural Exhibition Centre, and the Bendigo ICT Centre.

5.

Moved the headquarters of the Rural Finance Corporation to Bendigo.

6.

Across Victoria creating an additional 4,500 pre-apprenticeship places.
