The Hume region in the north-east of the State extends from the New South Wales border in the north to the outskirts of Melbourne. 

Hume encompasses the area of Victoria that is bound by Corryong to the east, Kinglake to the south, Shepparton/Mooroopna to the west and Wodonga to the north.

The Brumby Government is taking action to create jobs and making sure Victorians have the skills they need:

1.

In the Goulburn-Ovens-Murray Region the unemployment rate has fallen from 5.5% in October 1999 to 4.0% in February 2008.

2.

Worked with Effem Foods to provide $50 million for installation of a new Masterfoods Petcare production and packaging plant at Wodonga.

3.

Creating an additional 150,000 new jobs across Victoria over the next four years and maintaing low unemployment.

4.

Upgrading the Yarrawonga airport.

5.

Across Victoria creating an additional 4,500 pre-apprenticeship places.

6.

Worked with Woolworths to provide 300 jobs at a new $90 million distribution centre in Wodonga.
