The Gippsland region stretches along the coast from the New South Wales border to Venus Bay and Wilsons' Promontory. It takes in towns such as Warragul, Moe, Traralgon, Omeo, Foster and Orbost.
The Brumby Government is taking action to create jobs and making sure Victorians have the skills they need:

1.In the Gippsland Region the unemployment rate has fallen from 9.5% in October 1999 to 5.6% in February 2008.
2.Creating an additional 150,000 new jobs across Victoria over the next four years and maintaing low unemployment.
3.Across Victoria creating an additional 4,500 pre-apprenticeship places.
4.Boost funding for regional TAFEs.
5.Develop the Latrobe Valley as a hub for energy and resources.
6.Committed $50 million to demonstrate HRL's coal drying and gasification technology.
