The Eastern Metropolitan region extends from Melbourne's inner eastern suburbs of Bulleen and Doncaster, north across the Yarra River to Lower Plenty and Eltham, and across to Bayswater, Croydon and Ferntree Gully in the east below the Dandenong Ranges. The most southerly suburb is Rowville.
The Brumby Government is taking action to create jobs and making sure Victorians have the skills they need:

1.In the Melbourne Region the unemployment rate has fallen from 6.4% in October 1999 to 4.6% in February 2008.
2.Worked with GE to provide $98 million and 1,500 new jobs at GE’s new financial services centre in Burnley.
3.Ensuring Victoria's triple A credit rating.
4.Contribute $4.5 million to develop a Nursing Skills Centre of Excellence with Box Hill TAFE, Deakin Uni, Epworth Foundation and the Eastern Health Network.
5.Worked with Satyam Computer Services Ltd to provide 300 jobs through a second global development centre in Melbourne.
6.Creating an additional 150,000 new jobs across Victoria over the next four years and maintaing low unemployment.
