The Barwon South West region takes in the Western District of Victoria and covers the natural and built environment from the South Australian border to Geelong and Queenscliff and from the south coast to the Southern Grampians.
The Brumby Government is taking action to create jobs and making sure Victorians have the skills they need:

1.In the Barwon-Western District Region the unemployment rate has fallen from 7.4% in October 1999 to 3.3% in February 2008.
2.Delivering greater access to the Port of Geelong through the standard gauge rail development, new rail and improved efficiency.
3.Across Victoria creating an additional 4,500 pre-apprenticeship places.
4.Creating an additional 150,000 new jobs across Victoria over the next four years and maintaing low unemployment.
5.Boosting funding for regional TAFEs.
6.Relocated the Transport Accident Commission to Geelong.
