The Gippsland region stretches along the coast from the New South Wales border to Venus Bay and Wilsons' Promontory. It takes in towns such as Warragul, Moe, Traralgon, Omeo, Foster and Orbost.

Some of the projects that the Brumby Government is taking action on to ensure local families have the best health system include:

1.

A new ambulance branch has been established at Paynesville together with additional MICA paramedics at Latrobe and two-officer crewing at Cowes, Wonthaggi, Lakes Entrance, Moe, Warragul and Bairnsdale.

2.

$112,000 to West Gippsland Hospital to provide seven new cardiac monitors.    

3.

Planning for the redevelopment of the Latrobe Regional Hospital.

LRH provides key leadership and co-ordination for the region, as well as providing enhanced specialty capacity so people do not have to travel to Melbourne for treatment. 1999/2000.

4.

Gippsland residents have better access to high-quality emergency health services with Bairnsdale Health Service’s $5 million emergency department.For Leongatha there is $10 million to rebuild the aged care facility as part of the redevelopment of the Leongatha Hospital.

5.

New Nurse-On-Call service with more than 11,500 local calls made in a year. Local families regularly use the triage service seeking medical advice about symptoms such as vomiting and fever, abdominal pain and discomfort, diarrhoea, nausea and chest pain.

6.

New Omeo District Health and Lewington House Residential Aged Care centre.

The $4.8 million project provides people around Omeo with a modern and integrated health and aged-care centre.
