The North and West Metropolitan region encompasses the western and northern suburbs of Melbourne and their outer lying areas, as well as central Melbourne encompassing suburbs from Werribee to Eltham.
Some of the projects where the Brumby Government is taking action on Environment and Climate Change include:

1.Introduce a rebate program to replace inefficient appliances.
2.New major metropolitan parks at Craigieburn, Melton and Werribee.
3.Introduced the Victorian Renewable Energy Target which will require electricity retailers to purchase 10 per cent of their power from renewable sources.
4.Melbourne’s green wedge areas are protected by legislation.
5.Develop the new Merri Creek Park.
6.Victoria’s resource recovery rate continues to rise. Most recent data shows that 60%, or 705,000 tonnes of waste is diverted from landfill each year, enabling more efficient use of resources and saving around 440,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases.
