The Hume region in the north-east of the State extends from the New South Wales border in the north to the outskirts of Melbourne. Hume encompasses the area of Victoria that is bound by Corryong to the east, Kinglake to the south, Shepparton/Mooroopna to the west and Wodonga to the north.
Some of the projects where the Brumby Government is taking action on Environment and Climate Change include:

1.Created the Great Victorian Alpine National Park.
2.Introduced the Victorian Renewable Energy Target which will require electricity retailers to purchase 10 per cent of their power from renewable sources.
3.In 2007 more than 1,400 rural Victorians benefited from the Drought Employment Program, which provided wages and material for environmental work in drought affected areas.
4.Retain a Nuclear Free Victoria.
5.Support farmers to improve energy efficiency.
6.Supporting over 12,000 people to participate in Waterwatch programs and 1,800 members of local Landcare groups.
