The Gippsland region stretches along the coast from the New South Wales border to Venus Bay and Wilsons' Promontory. It takes in towns such as Warragul, Moe, Traralgon, Omeo, Foster and Orbost.
Some of the projects where the Brumby Government is taking action on Environment and Climate Change include:

1.Protect the Mitchell River from damming.
2.Introduced the Victorian Renewable Energy Target which will require electricity retailers to purchase 10 per cent of their power from renewable sources.
3.Retrofit one of the generation units at Hazelwood Power Station to reduce greenhouse emissions by up to 30%.
4.Gippsland Water Factory to use recycled water for industry in Latrobe Valley.
5.In 2007 more than 1,400 rural Victorians benefited from the Drought Employment Program, which provided wages and material for environmental work in drought affected areas.
6.Add 2,500 hectares of icon State Forest in East Gippsland to the National Parks and reserve system.
