The Eastern Metropolitan region extends from Melbourne's inner eastern suburbs of Bulleen and Doncaster, north across the Yarra River to Lower Plenty and Eltham, and across to Bayswater, Croydon and Ferntree Gully in the east below the Dandenong Ranges. The most southerly suburb is Rowville.
Some of the projects where the Brumby Government is taking action on Environment and Climate Change include:
|
1.Introduced the Victorian Renewable Energy Target which will require electricity retailers to purchase 10% of their power from renewable sources.
2.Upgrade picnic, café, car-park and other facilities in Dandenong Ranges National Park.
3.Melbourne’s green wedge areas are protected by legislation.
4.Victoria’s resource recovery rate continues to rise. Most recent data shows that 60%, or 705,000 tonnes of waste is diverted from landfill each year, enabling more efficient use of resources and saving around 440,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases.
5.Expand the Yarra Valley Parklands and Warrandyte State Park.
6.Expand the Cardinia Creek Parklands.
