Southern Metropolitan region includes the Royal Botanic Gardens and Government House, Albert Park Lake, Cranbourne, Frankston, Rippon Lea mansion, the Caulfield Racecourse, Como Park, and Fishermans Bend industrial area as well as a number of commercial and shopping districts.
Some of the projects the Brumby Government is taking action on to make sure the streets are safe include:

1.Recently provided funding for the replacement of the Police Station at Sandringham.
2.Doubled the penalties for possession of controlled weapons and prohibited weapons.
3.Recently provided funding for a new station serving Carrum Downs and Langwarrin growth corridor.
4.Introduced new hoon and graffiti legislation.
5.Recently provided funding to replace and upgrade 18 CFA stations including Dandenong fire station.
6.Developing SES training facilities at Carrum.
