Boosting Multicultural Festivals Across Victoria

Multicultural festivals across Victoria are set to shine thanks to a $2.4 million funding boost announced today by the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Robin Scott awarded 543 grants as part of this year’s Multicultural Festivals and Events Program.

More than 650 applications were received from both new and established groups, spanning both metropolitan and regional Victoria.

The grants will support both new and established communities hold events to engage the broader community in multicultural celebrations and enhance cross-cultural awareness and understanding.

They were awarded after a comprehensive merit assessment, where the Victorian Multicultural Commission played a key role on an independent panel.

The Labor Government actively supports our multicultural communities, providing the largest ever funding allocation for local communities, initiatives to promote inclusion, festivals and events, community infrastructure and settlement support for refugees and asylum seekers.
