Better Bendigo Bus Interchange Now Taking Passengers

15 April 2016

The new Mitchell Street bus interchange is complete and taking passengers, Minister for Public Transport and Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan, announced today.

The new interchange has wider footpaths, better lighting, 80 square metres of undercover space, seating for 45 people and standing room for a further 60.

It is also more accessible, making getting on and off the bus easier for wheelchair and scooter users, and parents with prams, and has big screens showing when buses are timetabled to arrive.

The new bus interchange builds on the bigger, better bus network delivered in January, which provides more direct routes, better connections with trains and extends bus services into new, growing areas of Bendigo.

The $900,000 upgrade was delivered by Public Transport Victoria, in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo as part of the $3.8 million upgrade of the wider Mitchell Street streetscape.

The Passenger Information Displays and Customer Help Units, transmission network and software were supplied and installed by Victorian Rail Asset owner VicTrack.
