The Andrews Labor Government has helped secure a $8.65 million investment from Booth Transport in a new milk logistics and distribution hub in Strathmerton, creating 77 new jobs.
Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development Jaala Pulford toured the recently opened new facility today, which is supporting Victoria’s dairy industry.
Established in 1936, Booth Transport is a family-owned company that provides freight, container and bulk liquid transportation, warehousing, and logistics services nationally.
In addition to creating new jobs, the new hub will deliver transport savings and improve productivity in the northern Victorian dairy region by reducing bottlenecks in the transport supply chain, particularly for interstate markets.
The new hub will include a milk transfer station, truck depot, heavy vehicle washing facility and specialty milk refrigeration silos.
The hub will also provide alternative employment opportunities for people in the dairy sector across the Murray Dairy region in northern Victoria, which is currently facing a range of challenges.
Through its $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, the Labor Government is supporting initiatives across regional and rural Victoria that build critical infrastructure, secure jobs, and invest in communities.
