Minister for Industry, Lily D’Ambrosio, today congratulated the winners of the State iAwards, announced last night at an Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) ceremony at RMIT University.
The 16 winners, selected from 91 entrants, will go on to represent Victoria at the National iAwards to be held in Melbourne on 27 August, 2015.
The 2015 iAwards, sponsored by the Andrews Labor Government, celebrate the digital industry’s accomplishments and its substantial contribution to innovative business development in Victoria.
This year saw start-up organisations, established firms, students and young innovators pick up awards across a range of categories.
Some outstanding achievements were celebrated, including best new product, won by Curve Tomorrow & Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and best start-up company, which went to Sinefa.
The Labor Government has committed to hosting the National iAwards Program until 2018, reinforcing the state’s reputation as the Australian hub for Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Victoria’s ICT industry reputation for delivering innovative products and services is already showing dividends for the economy, now generating more than $34 billion in annual revenue and employing 91,300 people in almost 8,200 companies across the state.
The Labor Government is committed to encouraging further growth within our ICT industry through funding programs and developing an ICT Industry Strategy to drive the sector to its full potential.
