Vulnerable Victorians will benefit from a boost of more than $73.6 million in the 2013-14 Victorian State Budget, Minister for Housing Wendy Lovell said today.
 

Minister for Housing Wendy Lovell announced today that funding in the 2012-2013 State Budget will enable the Government to assist around 77,000 households with long-term social housing, including public, Indigenous and community tenancies.

The Coalition Government is continuing its focus on Victoria's most vulnerable families by investing in public housing.

Minister for Housing Wendy Lovell today said the latest figures from the State Government's Budget committed to acquiring 1,600 new public and social houses across the state by mid next year.

The Victorian Coalition Government will pilot work and learning centres on public housing sites as part of its commitment to help young people get a job, reduce disadvantage and help make Victoria a fairer place to live.

The Victorian Coalition Government will work in partnership with the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Hanover Welfare Services to reduce youth homelessness and increase job opportunities for young Victorians, Housing Minister Wendy Lovell said today.
