A New Era Of Cooperation Across Melbourne’s Suburbs

09 June 2017

The Andrews Labor Government has appointed members to Melbourne’s six Metropolitan Partnerships – a new platform for cooperative engagement between governments, business and communities.

These Partnerships will identify the opportunities and priorities that exist across government, business and community sectors so that all Melburnians have access to the jobs, services and local infrastructure they need.

The Minister for Suburban Development Lily D’Ambrosio today announced the appointment of the Chairs and members for each of the six Metropolitan Partnership groups across Melbourne:

  • Ms Alex Cockram – Chair of the Western Partnership (representing Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton, Moonee Valley and Wyndham)
  • Ms Alicia Darvall – Chair of the Inner South-east Partnership (representing Bayside, Boroondara, Glen Eira and Stonnington)
  • Dr Elizabeth Deveny – Chair of the Southern Partnership (representing Cardinia, Casey, Dandenong, Frankston, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Mornington Peninsula)
  • Mr Tony Keenan – Chair of the Inner Metro Partnership (representing Melbourne, Port Phillip and Yarra)
  • Mr Terry Larkins – Chair of the Northern Partnership (representing Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Mitchell, Moreland, Nillumbik and Whittlesea)
  • Ms Robin Whyte – Chair of the Eastern Partnership (representing Knox, Manningham, Maroondah, Monash, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges)

Each Partnership includes eight community and business representatives with a variety of backgrounds, experiences and networks.

These members will be joined by the CEO of each council in that region, a senior Victorian Government official and a representative from the metropolitan Regional Development Australia Committee.

The work of the Metropolitan Partnerships will help to align investments already being made by all levels of government. Working together can only mean more opportunities for local economies and the jobs that come with them.
